Carry On for ChatGPT ("the extension") moves a ChatGPT conversation into a new chat by putting a handoff of it into the new chat's message box. We do not run servers, we do not use analytics or tracking, and we never sell data. We never receive your conversations.

What the extension reads

The extension runs only on chatgpt.com. When you click "Quick handoff" or "Smart handoff", it reads the open conversation from ChatGPT, the same data the ChatGPT page itself loads, using your existing ChatGPT sign-in. It uses it only to build the handoff.

What the extension sends

It opens a new chatgpt.com chat in your browser and puts the handoff into its message box. It sends it only when you press Send, or right away if you turned on auto-send. For a smart handoff, it first sends one request in the old chat asking ChatGPT to write a summary, exactly as if you had typed it. Those messages are handled by OpenAI under your ChatGPT account and OpenAI's own policies. The handoff may also be copied to your clipboard as a backup. The extension sends nothing anywhere else.

What the extension stores

Your settings, how many handoffs you've used today, whether you have Pro, and, for up to two minutes while the new chat opens, the handoff itself. All of it is kept in your browser's extension storage on this computer. It is not synced and never leaves your computer. Removing the extension deletes it.

Payments

Pro is sold through ExtensionPay, with payments processed by Stripe on their own pages. They collect your email and payment details to process the purchase; the extension never sees your card details.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share any data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
